About Me
My Work
I'm a passionate writer, performer, producer, and teacher. From musical theatre to orchestral works to vocal jazz to pop, rock, and more, my interests and skillsets cover a broad spectrum of musical styles and expression. I've worked as a professional actor and singer, a recording engineer, and a vocal coach, in addition to writing, arranging, and transcribing music for others. Who I Am
It's hard to determine exactly where my love and drive for music came from. I give credit (and my deepest gratitude) to my mother for signing me up for piano and music theory lessons at age 7, and to my junior high choir teacher for persistently and lovingly inviting me to join choir.
Over the course of my pre-teen and teen years I fell in love with singing, arranging, writing, and playing the piano. In junior high I learned how to play the alto saxophone and the guitar, and I started acting in school plays and community theatre. While in high school my love for singing deepened, both in choirs and as a soloist.
At Brigham Young University, I was accepted into the Commercial Music program and developed my skills as a vocalist, writer, and sound engineer. I learned more of the subtleties of arranging and orchestrating for various ensembles, and I continued to study voice to further my own abilities. I began performing with local professional theatre companies, working as a recording engineer for both live concerts and studio sessions, and teaching contemporary voice to younger students. I found that my sensitive ear and attention to detail made me an excellent transcriber and copyist, and I started creating and preparing sheet music for clients.
Since graduating, I have continued to perform, compose, arrange, and transcribe. As a singer I'm well-versed in various styles and genres, though musical theatre remains my favorite. I have written and arranged for choirs, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and a cappella groups, as well as for media scoring and religious settings.
For me, music communicates true emotion and our shared human experience in a way that nothing else can. I love being part of that process in any way possible, whether it's on stage, in the recording studio, or at my computer writing or creating sheet music. There's a beautiful, intangible force that draws us all together and expresses our deepest feelings, and I believe that music is a primary vehicle by which we access it.
